With a couple of days to go, it suddenly dawned on me that we [Spam Javelin - Ste Brute pic below] were playing a gig in Chester on the same night that our spiritual brothers, the UK Subs were also playing less than half a mile up the road...
Having, over the years shared beds, beers, pizzas, stages and drummers with the Subs we should have really been on that bill... But it turned out that we were at the better gig.

GIG 9 - Stiff Little Fingers / Spam Javelin @ Tivoli, Buckley

I don't wanna be nobody's hero and on meeting Jake Burns of Stiff Little Fingers (one of my childhood heroes) he shook my hand and immediately buried his head back into his laptop. Was good to catch up with SLF drummer Steve Grantley who I know from his days with The Alarm.

We had a good gig, a good laugh - got to play on a proper stage with a proper PA (courtesy of Chris White). It took the old-school punk crowd a few song to get it but once they did it was a laugh.
